Brianna van Hooydonk, RP
Registered Psychotherapist
Tuesdays and Thursdays. Children, adolescents, adults, and seniors.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist with over 15 years of experience. I completed an undergraduate honours degree in Psychology and a Master of Science in Mental Health Counselling. I am also a Certified Trauma and Resilience Specialist. My goal as a therapist is to work with clients to help overcome challenges and obstacles and make positive changes, while recognizing their strengths and gaining a feeling of control over their lives. I have completed extensive training in grief and trauma, mood disorders (e.g. depression), anxiety, Borderline Personality Disorder, and eating disorders. I provide supportive counselling to individuals on issues such as family and peer relationships, stress, self-esteem, anger management, self-harm, and social skills. I work with adults, adolescents, and children.
My approach is primarily Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, although I also incorporate mindfulness and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. Therapy is client-centred with a goal to create a strong feeling of safety in the therapeutic relationship, to help clients feel empowered, and to help integrate strategies to gain healing and fulfillment in their lives.
